The pentominoes are an excellent hands on resource that engage students in learning that they do not even realize is happening!
The use of pentominoes requires spacial awareness, problem solving skills, and introduces students to symetry, area, and perimeter. We will discuss how they are used and through conversation, examples, and videos, students will see how to use the pentominoes to create different shapes. They will then have the opportunity to create their space working to make each of the 12 shapes possible.
The chair pockets will allow students to store folders and small books at their desk, allowing them to store any manipulatives that are distributed inside of their own desk and reducing the risk of exposure.
