These books will make a difference to my student population of many backgrounds. We haven't had funding for books in my district for years and I've tried little by little on my own but I need help to allow my students to see themselves in the books they read.
Some of the books will be read aloud to students and be used to promote critical thinking and communication skills, and some will be used for students to choose to read for their independent reading enjoyment and monthly projects. Students beg for Read Aloud, it is their favorite time of the day. They love to interact with each other about what is happening, make predictions and share their connections as to what we read.
