Many of our bilingual students have rarely heard stories read to them cover to cover, or lack books with an exciting, motivating theme. A variety of topics and main characters in happy, colorful books grab students' attention and motivate them to listen long enough to learn from the story.
Preschoolers love to make predictions, compare to personal experiences, argue with the characters in the stories, and search for small details in pictures. Hearing stories in their home language will help them learn additional vocabulary and grammar through a motivating, silly story!
