Creating a classroom community of trust, collaboration, and respect is a benchmark to a child's education. Students are not just learning reading or writing or math or content. They are learning how to work together, how to respectfully disagree, and respect that their own experiences are not the experiences of everyone and that by sharing and listening to each other our classroom expands beyond our four walls.
Students need a place where they can come together to grow the world around them. Having a rug for our community meeting area creates a more inviting space than cold tile. It can help create a feeling of home away from home. Our rug will allow students to come together and together is where we learn the most.
