Our band program is starting from scratch this year. I have several scholars in need of instruments so they can participate in band. My students have come a long way since starting in September of 2021 and with the addition of baritones and a xylophone, they will be able to further expand their musical knowledge. Learning to play an instrument is a life skill that scholars can have with them forever.
The baritone is a beautiful horn that can play moving melodies as well as triumphant countermelodies. My scholars who play percussion instruments are eager to expand their knowledge of percussion. We are currently playing on buckets and trash cans so they can learn. They are doing a very great job and are in need of diverse percussion instruments.
Allowing scholars to take these instruments home and practice can help develop discipline, good work ethic, and a sense of pride in themselves.
