The books I have selected for our novel studies this year are:
The Phantom Tollbooth
A Single Shard
Esperanza Rising
Bridge to Terebithia
Wish
I am hoping to use these novels as a supplement to our 7th-grade curriculum. As a class, we will complete a guided novel study for each of these books. I have also chosen books requested by my students for our classroom library. I hope to help my students cultivate a love for reading and learning, so I have chosen books that are age-appropriate and relatable to middle school students.
The additional books will go into our classroom library and students will be able to use these books towards their Accelerated Reading goals.
The classroom cart requested will be a designated cart for the novel studies. The cart will have a section for each language arts period to store their novels, file folders, and additional materials. The hole-puncher and stapler will be used to help students independently organize their own materials. Each novel will have a specific file folder color assigned so that students are able to organize their assignments. My goal is that as a class we are able to complete 4 novel studies this academic school year. As our final, students will work together in small groups and they will be encouraged to choose a book a complete a guided novel study on a book of their choosing.
