Students will use this new equipment to learn and apply a wide range of golf skills. They will come into class ready to practice and achieve successes of different levels as they try and strike the ball to a target.
Have you ever been to TopGolf? Think that experience, but in a child's P.E. class. There will be points awarded for successful hits to targets that range in points by target colors. This is why the various targets have been selected. Targets will range in placement with black being the closest and gold being the furthest. The included chipping mats with the gold nets will be used as the driving stations. Students will be split up into 6 teams and take turns hitting the foam golf balls.
Students will also implement math skills while adding up their total points. This process will be adjusted based on age level to help hit grade level math objectives (i.e., kindergartners wont be trying to add up large numbers in the hundreds).
Safety is a number 1 priority in my P.E. class, so I have requested plastic adjustable golf clubs. These will be useful to help students regardless of height, since they are adjustable. But the plastic also makes them safer for beginners. They can learn the mechanics of golf and practice without the need for a large area to accommodate real golf balls or metal clubs.
