We are a Title I school where the majority of students come from low income households. I want my students to have an inviting, fun classroom that feels comfortable, safe, and welcoming! When students feel welcome and safe, they are more likely to learn.
This bright, colorful rug provides students with visual reminders of how to maintain social distancing during our carpet time. With Covid, we need to make sure we are keeping our students safe. My first graders did not have a lot of opportunity for in person learning last year; being in school is a new experience for them and I want to make it as positive as possible.
We spend a lot of time on the carpet in our classroom! I love having all of my students close by so I can frequently assess and see how they are doing. This rug will help tremendously with keeping them close by, but also helping them maintain their required social distance.
