I am a Special Education teacher who case manages students in a Kindergarten - 5th grade building. Most of the students I support have sensory seeking needs that can interfere with their ability to sit and learn. Some of the students also struggle with their energy and fatigue.
I am requesting three ball chairs. Many learners need movement to integrate the knowledge being facilitated and at times to help them focus to the activities so they can remain on task. These seats were developed to help students wiggle and bounce thus providing a sensory input to keep them engaged in the learning. These additional seating options would allow the students to move in place. They would help students stay in place, thus not disrupting the learning which can occur when students resort to more active sensory seeking behaviors like pacing, or tapping.
