I am requesting sand for the opportunity to explore, develop their fine motor skills, and their tactile senses. Students will be able to build and create using sand. The sand will allow them to use their tactile senses, learn about textures, develop and strengthen their fine motor skills, as well as their hand-eye coordination. Research has shown that children learn through play.
Playing in the sand will increase their vocabulary, math skills, as well as their social skills. The students will be able to carry on conversations with other students who is playing in the sand. This will be an added benefit for those students who are English language learners.
