My Shop project allows our students to refurbish furniture while increasing their spoken language as well as the language that they understand.
Students will receive used and worn furniture items from our partnership with Goodwill. Then, they will use sandpaper and tools from our partnership with Home Depot to prepare the items for colorful and unique paint designs.
Lastly, some furniture will receive crafty additions, like a coffee table with a penny-covered top.
Our students will learn how to take a piece of worn furniture and make it into something that they can sell or auction at Autism fundraisers. Additional elements of this project is the photography involved, pricing, selling, and counting of money to see what field trips can be available.
