More and more these days, students are struggling to be ready to learn when they come to school. Social emotional learning and mental health are key to helping all students become successful in school and in life. If a student is upset or mad, they will not be able to focus on learning until they are able to get that feeling under control.
The materials from this project will be used to make calm down boxes for every classroom at our school. The boxes will contain instructions on how to use the items, a sand timer (to keep students focused while using the box), fidgets, paper, crayons, and a pencil. All of these items will allow students to take a break and use a tool to help them self-regulate and calm down so that they can focus on learning again.
