Due to the pandemic and recent school closures, it was difficult to establish and complete labs. Our plant and soils science students were unable to access our classrooms or use our school farm and other resources. We discovered a way to take the classroom and labs to our students so that they may learn and engage from home. Students were tasked with growing a garden at home during the closures. Students propagated seeds using Dixie Cups and monitored the progress of plant growth. After teacher/student reflection it was determined the cups were inadequate and were not able to be reused. We believe by acquiring propagation trays we will be better prepared in the event of another school closure Students will also be able to reuse the trays several times throughout the year to propagate vegetables, house plants, and succulents. The trays will ultimately keep our students engaged in learning no matter the conditions of the pandemic.
