My dream is to build a life skills lab by having interactive task boxes to teach students skills they can use everyday to be independent and autonomous. They will gain practice in choosing clothing, understanding weather, budgeting, managing money, learning how to read and understand food, medicine, and warning labels. The daily use of task boxes will allow my students to acquire skills, such as independence, critical thinking, and gaining new knowledge as well as learn valuable life skills on a daily basis as well as meet IEP goals. The use of task boxes will allow them to practice their knowledge on a daily basis, when real live scenarios are not always available. Students will learn and recognize environmental print as well as community signs. Students will practice skills needed for knowledge in cooking, cleaning, laundry and household chores. They will practice in real life scenarios learning valuable job skills. These are all skills we take for granted, but are imperative for their success.
