My students have varying sensory needs. One of them is not being able to perceive their position or their body movements within their environment. As a result, they either have a poor posture (slouches or leans back too much) or have a need to get up, move around or spin. While these actions provide them the sensory input that their body is looking for, it distracts them and the other students from learning. Using flexible seating will help meet my students sensory needs. It will allow for some movement without having to get up while sustaining their attention.
