Headphones are a necessity for differentiating classroom learning and for providing necessary accommodations. Students use headphones on read aloud tests, to watch instructional videos independently, to participate in various self paced learning games/modules, or listen to music as they work to stay focused. When only a small portion of the class has access to headphones it limits what our class can do in the classroom. It would streamline instruction and independent work time if each student was assigned their own pair!
Classroom snacks contribute to a nurturing classroom environment. As a teacher I look to make sure all students' immediate needs are met before we dive into instruction. Students can not focus on an empty stomach, and having access to a quick snack can do wonders for students trying to learn!
