The diverse books from Amazon and materials from Teachers Pay Teachers will provide engaging mini-lessons at my students' level! Students will learn and practice new skills to support their communication! The books listed from Amazon provide a variety of perspectives and diverse characters. I want to teach my students about the rich history of diversity we have in the United States. Many students learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks in Middle school so I have added books about them. The Book Companions on TPT help my students get a deeper level of understanding of the text and provide engaging extensions activities as well. We use mini-lessons about idioms, similes, metaphors, hyperbole to cover figurative language. Lessons about conversation skills such as asking follow up questions will support my students with their social skills. Lastly mini-vocabulary lessons will help my students learn and use new words.
