We are a new Community School and we are looking to start stocking our resource room that we are calling "The Nest." My vision is to create a space where students can access things like food, hygiene items, clothing or winter gear, or other resources we can offer to them - no questions asked. The number one requested item by students is food/snacks. If we can get our students' bellies full, that is one less barrier to learning that gets them into class so they are ready to focus and have all their basic needs met. Beyond that, I hope to create a culture of helping where asking for what you need is normalized so that students truly feel supported.
