Yes, most of the items I have added for my project are not tangible materials that my students will use within the classroom, rather they are items to get my classroom started. Working in a title one school district, students walk into their classrooms and they are filled with plain walls, plain desks, and plain teachers; mainly due to the lack of funding provided to classrooms specifically. But for my students, I want to do better for them, as well as their learning. I want them to walk into a classroom where it is a calm, comfortable, and judgement free zone filled with all of the necessary supplies for them to succeed not just in my classroom but in their other classrooms also. I want my students that struggle with behavioral disorders, anxiety, and even depression to walk inside my classroom and instantly feel like they are little bit at home, leaving their behaviors, anxiousness, and sadness all at the door. With the use of the materials included within my project, I will be able to create a space that is not only welcoming but that encourages their learning in an environment that is flexible to how they want to learn.
