Students in my class are extremely creative and tech-savvy. Unfortunately, the Chromebooks they are using are limited in speed, capability, and accessibility when it comes to multimedia projects and presentations. Each year, my students create a service-learning project to help make the world a better place. They have created calendars to sell, music videos, websites, and other projects, but have had to do so by using my personal MacBook. This is no longer an option as my 9-year-old MacBook no longer works. I would love my students to have the opportunity to create whatever they can come up with without technology limiting them. In addition to having more power, better apps, and more memory, the 21" MacBook screens would allow groups of students to work together on a project and actually see the screen. It would also allow students to print materials that they cannot do with their Chromebooks.
