The goal for these books is to have them live in my classroom. Students will be reading for a designated time daily, and they'll have the option to pick up what ever book they choose. The idea is that they find one book of their choosing that can hold their interest and hopefully build up their literacy. Many of my students have never read for "fun" and often see reading as something that is just done in English class. My hope is that they find a book and continue to find books that help them break away from the idea that books=boring. If given the agency to choose a book, students will be able to practice reading in a more enjoyable way.
