Solving puzzles is a foundational part of developing students’ number sense and flexible thinking in math. Puzzles help develop students' logical and spacial reasoning in a fun and enjoyable way. They expose students to the process of problem solving and the idea of perseverance.
Having a diverse collection of puzzles is important. Challenging puzzles encourage cooperation and teamwork as students ask each other for assistance, while easier puzzles provide opportunities for students to build their confidence and experience success.
Currently, our class hopes to expand our collection of puzzles so it more effectively meets the needs of all the learners in our classroom!
