My students and I will read these together in the classroom. We will discuss comprehension and other reading skills. Most importantly we will discuss tough topics involving mental health and things we can do to make ourselves better citizens. Some of my students are in a self-contained classroom for behavioral and emotional concerns. I needed to find a way to address the state standards as well as the concerns that placed them in this classroom. We are working hard to develop better citizens that can reintegrate into the general education classroom.
