I want to curate an extensive classroom library filled with high-interest books for my students. These books will be used in class as independent reading books to choose from. We take the time to independently read in class every day as a part of our balanced literacy program. Many of my students do not have free access to books at home. Having a diverse selection of books will help me to foster my students love of reading. Students will also be practicing their dictionary skills and utilizing them as a tool to help them find out the meanings of words. Having a supply of dictionaries on hand will greatly support learning opportunities in my classroom.
