Each day there are loud scrapes against the floor that interrupt our learning, or students jumping out of their seat for a wiggle that distracts the class. Our current goal is to move the chairs as little as possible, which is practically impossible due to the energy that I previously mentioned.
Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to move around in their seat without classroom disruptions. With increased oxygen levels to their brain, students can focus better on the task at hand and their engagement brings more opportunities for learning.
Flexible seating can also move around the room effortlessly for impromptu mini lessons or allow students to work in an individual space. This gives me and my students a way to take full advantage of the space in our classroom.
