My job as a speech-language pathologist is to INSPIRE NOT REQUIRE! Creating fun, silly, and motivating opportunities for young students to build foundational communication skills. Maria Montessori stated that "Play is the work for a child." Play-based speech therapy is a researched-based approach that requires engaging materials at the students' ability level! These materials will help my students build their vocabulary understanding and expressive use of words. Every toy has ample amounts of potential to help facilitate language development. For example, a puzzle can be used to practice social turn-taking, labeling items, using core words such as "in" and "out," following directions such as "give me the elephant puzzle piece," building sentence length ( "puzzle," "I want puzzlet"), etc. The possibilities are endless when a toy or therapy material is interesting, motivating, at at the students' ability/play level! I would love your support to purchase materials to INSPIRE my students to communicate!
