I am teaching in an ASD self-contained classroom. My students are on a standard curriculum. All of the curriculum content for all grade levels in reading, math, science, and social studies is digital. There will be no physical books to distribute to them. In addition, Technology is a big component for my students because they need visuals, guidance, and assistance in writing or spelling, phonics. Although most of my students are verbal, It can also be used as an assistive technology device for communication among teacher-student interactions.
Also, I have a few students that are on a modified curriculum they are required to utilize Teachtown (Encore) by logging in to the website.
Furthermore, the district is expecting teachers to maximize learning by using two different intervention programs, iReady and Horizons; Which is mandatory and they only work with Apple software.
Currently, We have a shortage of laptops school-wide due to funding and more students in the school building. As a result, my students have not been able to get any computers and have not started implementing their lessons. I have been using my own ink and paper have to make paper copies of all the assignments.
