Please help me to provide small group instruction and intervention to my special needs students using the materials requested. My students need interventions outside of the curriculum and general education classroom in order to learn best to fit their needs. The Alphabet sound tubs will help me teach students who read on beginning kindergarten level to learn letter sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary. The CVC touch center will be the next step after students develop understanding of letter sounds. This activity will support them in word development. They will practice how to segment and blend CVC words by touching the dots under each letter sound and matching the word to the picture. This will help them in early reading development and transfer to reading print in books.
The math centers will provide a tactile approach to help teach children basic number sense. The common core calls for students to be able to solve equations using multiple methods. These math activities allows students to practice this for success.
Many of my students have difficulty with fine and gross motor skills. The sand sensory table is a necessary tool to help them develop and strengthen their muscles.
You may be asking why I also requested for magnetic boarders. Believe it or not children respond to a warm colorful classroom. Why not make your class a home that children WANT to enter. Thats the first step to successful teaching. I will use the boarders to showcase student work so they can be PROUD of what they have accomplished.
Lastly, the printer ink is a HUGE necessity for printed resources and cut and paste activities for my students. The pandemic forced our schools to make budget cuts, including making copies for our teachers.
