As a special education teacher, I support students who experience difficulties retaining foundational reading and math skills. Studies show that children with disabilities learn best when multiple modalities are involved in the learning process, including visual, auditory and kinesthetic.
These materials which I have chosen would incorporate various learning styles into the learning process by providing them with tangible materials they can touch, see and interact with, thereby increasing their chances of retaining foundational skills, such as blending sounds together and understanding place value in order to add and subtract.
