My students with moderate to severe disabilities learn from an alternate curriculum which allows me to print leveled readers for them that contain visually enriched text for better understanding. I like to make my bulletin boards come alive with visual examples associated with the month's theme. They grasp more of an understanding of the content presented when I introduce them to visuals in color. This goes across all subjects I teach (language arts, history & math), the more colored visuals I present the deeper the understanding. By introducing colored visuals that I can print from a colored printer will allow my students to engage in a deeper understanding of the unit's content.
I want my students to walk into their classroom and experience a visually rich learning experience.
