In my WIN classes, students need more interactive ways to learn. Materials I am requesting like 10 frames, counters, place value charts, dominos, and dot cards can help them visually see the abstract concept of math and understand it at their level.
After close to one year of learning online, my students have missed being able to learn with hands on materials, and were not able to build, or lost, fundamental math skills.
Manipulatives can provide a bridge between the concrete and abstract levels of many mathematical topics, serve as models that support students as they think, remember, and communicate about the mathematics being learned, as well as support student engagement and differentiation.
Games will help increase their knowledge in a fun and engaging way as well as help them understand and master basic facts while giving them many opportunities to practice so they can be stored in their long term memory.
