My students have a variety of individual needs. Throughout the day many of them benefit from sensory breaks which allow them to refocus and regulate their emotions after working on learning tasks.
Allowing students to explore sensory needs provides them with an opportunity to excel each day. When sensory needs are meet, students are able to relax. Students soon realize which items work best for them and use this as a strategy when they may need a break which reduces redirections and limits meltdowns. For students with sensory needs these item make a significant difference in their day.
