The novels will be used in class for a novel study on an all time classic coming of age story. Students will study the book and take a deep dive into academic vocabulary and context clues. Students will also use the book to connect to reading skills and reading strategies that will help them become better over all readers. These skills include cause and effect, summarizing, foreshadowing, and authors purpose. The books will also be used to help foster the love of literature and increase student fluency at the 5th grade level
