With our EIP program, there is a significant amount of record keeping. Having a working printer and ink means I can keep accurate running records, take anecdotal notes in an organized way, copy items in color for centers and provide intervention activities for students. My students seem to eat pencils so having sharpened pencils on hand is great for the writing activities that we complete!
Having a variety of quality, diverse literature on their varying levels will be great for them when it's time to read independently. Accelerated Reader is a major push at our school and kids often lose or forget their library books so this will be great to have books on hand. Last, we have to celebrate their accomplishments so having treats to reward for moving up reading levels, improving writing, and working together in small groups or independently is a great motivator.
