Technology devices that can be used offline will allow students who come from another country transition into the classroom. This device will travel with the student to different classes so that they may communicate their needs and wants. Our district is growing in bilingual educators and a plus is that support staff works closely with our experienced teachers to help close the gap. Translating devices will help with essential English vocabulary but also academic language.
This year we have had a higher influx of newcomer students from different parts of the world. Covid has also impacted many school districts in different ways, adding on additional barriers.
We are excited to put a device in the hands of each newcomer at our school! In turn you will help with breaking the language barrier that each student is experiencing.
