This project will help build a classroom library that will encourage students to read for their own enjoyment, both inside and out of my class. I have also requested copy paper, toner, and file folders. Some of my students have already let me know that they love to read, and I want to be able to give them the opportunity to read books that are interesting to them, ultimately helping them find their favorite genre of books. The bookcase I have requested will hold these new books. Our school has some choices for students, but most of the books are either nonfiction or are just older titles. Many of my students read below grade level, and the more they read, the more they learn.
I read to my students multiple times a week in class, and having more options to choose from for both independent reading and classroom reading in our down time will help students grow their vocabulary and reading level tremendously.
