School social workers serve a critical role in our educational system tackling the social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of students that are proven barriers to student learning. Our services improve academic and behavioral outcomes, promote a positive school climate, and provide effective and vital student support services by maximizing school-based and community resources.
With the items chosen, this will support my work in play therapy, where children can act out pretend or real-life scenarios and are guided towards resolution while helping teach them how to let go of negative thoughts or feelings. Through toys and games, children create personality traits, dilemmas, solutions and dialogue. They’re free to explore thousands of scenarios and come to just as many resolutions.
