Our current classroom has only one rug that is utilized for whole group instruction. Our classroom library and writing area need an area rug to make for a more comfortable learning space. Our students desperately need clean, soft rugs for their safety and to support their learning.
The super scholars in my class, use flexible workspaces through-out the day. New rugs will allow students to work in a comfortable space as they complete their daily task.
We use the rugs in our classroom to help define different learning spaces in our environment. For example, we use a soft rug in the library area as a provocation to support children to rest and engage with books. Additionally, placing rugs under the table in our writing area makes for a more inviting space as students will be able to sit on the rug instead of the floor. Having beautiful rugs will create a lovely environmental foundation which we can build upon for the rest of the year!
