My classroom is a hands-on, STEAM classroom, with creative writing infusion. I have collected mechanical and technological broken items over the summer and have set-up an area in my classroom for students to dismantle these items and fuse parts from one to another. This will allow students to see how things are made and work and "invent" items from the pieces, and it will allow students that don't like to write, a springboard for their written work. My students crave hands-on exploration, using the creative thinking process, and solving puzzles.
