These books will help me build the print-rich classroom that I strive to create as a first-year reading intervention teacher. Over the past few weeks, I've gotten to know my students, their interests, and their reading levels. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind.
My 5th and 6th-grade students devour graphic novels and love to learn interesting new facts in non-fiction books. With these new books, my intervention students will be able to choose from high-interest literature, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
