Students will be able to build their own numeracy chart within the classroom as we discuss real numbers. They will be challenged to access their prior knowledge about how numbers are categorized and be able to identify rational and irrational numbers and be able to demonstrate the order of operations using rational and irrational numbers.
The bean bags will play a part in learning to identify rational and irrational numbers and their divisibility from other numbers. The chart paper and markers will be used to highlight important terminology and build anchor charts within the classroom that give students ongoing repetition and visibility to skills as we continue to build throughout the unit. Because so many skills are taught in real numbers, from scientific notation to operations with exponents to solving equations, students will need to be able to have reminders of all of the skills that make up this unit.
