Over the past couple years, all aspects of education have changed; not just music education. Our COVID-19 world is something that used to be unimaginable. However, giving students the opportunity to be creative and unique through music gives them solace during the toughest of times.
Due to limited singing options, the items here in my Ðǿմ«Ã½ project are purely rhythmic; therefore being extremely COVID-19 friendly. Boomwhackers are a super fun and interactive tool to help students learn note names and their pitches. Not to mention, students will be given the opportunity to create songs using only Boomwhackers.
At Huntington, we are fortunate to have access to many kinds of drums: djembes, hand drums, congas, and more; therefore, The World Drumming Curriculum would be a perfect resource for students to explore these drums.
Finally, Norwich Public Schools has so generously given a set of 26 ukuleles to every elementary school in the district, including Huntington. The ukulele tuners here in the project will ensure that the ukuleles are in tune for the students to play, and that they are in tip top shape. They will also help the students learn to tune the instruments themselves!
Thank you for your time and interest in Huntington's music program.
