This is a challenging time for students to be learning music. Covid had forced music to be taught in a much different way, making many activities in our classroom (such as singing and sharing materials) difficult. To continue providing a quality musical experience for my students, we are needing students to have an individually assigned xylophone as they come to class. This would allow for faster cleanup times, and more instructional time.
This would also eliminate the need to share in the classroom, while still allowing us to perform as an ensemble.
Our music class is asking for two bass xylophones to provide a one-to-one musical instrument experience for students during Covid.
I have always loved teaching units on xylophone! As a percussionist myself, it is so exciting to see how every student connects with combining rhythm and the visual cues of xylophones. It is also important for us to have a diverse music education including unique music techniques from other cultures. My hope is that with these xylophones, students will not only learn more about music and cultures, but also about working together as an ensemble and finding a creative outlet at school.
Currently, we do not have a classroom set of ORFF. I would love to provide instruments for students that fit their physical size and provide a professional level of education. Thank you for contributing to our project and helping us create music!
