Our school has 3 lunches, each of which consists of about 300 students. Students lunch is only a 30 minute break which includes eating and going outside to play. This is the only break in the day that most of our students get, as some do not have elective classes due to remedial classes in their schedule. We are finding that our students are skipping lunch to go outside and have longer play time. We also only have 2 basketballs, and 3 soccer balls for them to use (of good quality). So there have been arguments/fights over who got to the equipment first. Our students do not have space at home to play and do not have their own equipment to bring to school. We are in a high poverty area with some community support, but need more help to make this a reality.
