Making gingerbread houses is a highlight of our holiday season. Every year, my students look forward to this fun activity. I usually ask students to bring in some candy for decorations and I buy the rest myself since some families are not able to contribute, but I want every student to participate. They are always so proud of their creations.
My students will incorporate engineering and math skills, as well as their artistic abilities in building their gingerbread houses.
The materials requested in this project will allow each of my students to have their own set of building materials. I will load up the frosting into the bulbs and they will be able to use it to glue together pieces of graham cracker to create the walls and roof of their houses. They will then use the assortment of candy to decorate their gingerbread houses. Of course I will remind them not to eat their masterpieces until they bring them home to share with their families. Thank you for considering our project.
