My students spend a minimum of fifteen minutes reading each class. As the year progresses, students will be responsible for reading at home as well. While we have a school library, they also need books in the classroom so that they can spend more time reading, and less time searching, especially on the days when our librarian is at other schools.
My students are interested in graphic novels, issues of race and gender, and any story with a strong plot. Students have requested more books in the classroom, and this will help fulfill that request.
