Building comfort, compassion, and creativity will be the focus of this project. Students at my school crave the familiar when it comes to literature. They want books to read that make them laugh, push their creativity, mirror their identities, and even to feel good about themselves, where they are as a growing person, and where they've been in the past. These books were selected to provide students with what they crave: the warm comfort of a familiar read, one that shows who they are as individuals and as a culture, and one that encourages them to grow and create. Students will be able to check out these books and read them in their classrooms and share them with their families at their homes. They will be encouraged to practice kindness, achieve a growth mindset, problem-solve, see themselves in the world, and even just to enjoy a good book.
