Our class spends at least half of the day together on our classroom carpet for circle time, naps, center time and group lessons. We use this space from the first day to learn how to share space, sit safely and have lots of fun while learning.
Upon return after Hurricane Ida, I was told that our classroom carpet had water and mold damage and had to be thrown out. Since we are back and without a carpet we have been trying to adjust but it hasn't been easy. So many times I have asked my students to "sit on the carpet" and they have laughed at me and responded "Ms. Ros, we don't have a carpet!" We are taking our loss in stride but I know we all will never forget "The Day Ms. Roslyn Lost Her Carpet."
