Our classroom library is very limited. The core focus in second grade is to foster the proficiency and love of reading and math. The math and citizenship books reinforce life skills of mathematics, fluency, comprehension, responsibility, decision making, and social skills. Additionally, this provides a segue for our social/emotional lessons. These books will be permitted to go home so students can get additional practice reading to their first teachers, their parents. Getting their wiggles out via the wiggle chairs vs falling out of regular chairs, strengthen core and provide attention in a positive way to those that have ADD. These children have kind hearts, and need to consistently attain academic, social, and emotional focus. We have one wiggle chair, on loan, that the class shares. The children look forward to their turn to sit on it and express it helps them.
