Because of the effect of the COVID-19 restrictions that were placed upon the students during the kindergarten and first grade years, my students are somewhat behind in their reading. With this book project, it will increase the exposure of the students to a wider range of literature to help them catch up to where they should be.
A couple of the standards that this project will help the students in are: RL.2.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories and poetry, in the grades 2–3 text complexity band proficiently. Also the standard: RF.2.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
